Jr Natl Sepak Takraw C'ship; State girls emerge regu winners, boys settle for runners up title

IMPHAL, Dec 15 : Manipur sub-junior girls were crowned regu champions at the 23rd National Sepak Takraw Championship which was held since December 12 in Hyderabad, Telangana while the State boys team finished runners up.
State girls overcame Nagaland 21-19, 21-16 in the final match staged today to claim the top spot.  Manipur reached the semi-final beating Assam 21-14, 21-15 and got the better of Odisha 22-20, 21-12 to book the final ticket. Earlier in the previous round, Manipur trounced Karnataka 21-5, 21-7 and edged past Goa 18-21, 21-19, 21-11 before thrashing Kerala 21-8, 21-11. Meanwhile in the regu event for boys, Manipur which reached the final beating AP 21-13,  21-11 went down 21-18, 18-21, 16-21 in the hands of Delhi to contend with the runners up title.
Manipur defeated Odisha 21-19, 21-12 in the quarter final after beating Assam 21-6, 21-10; Haryana 21-10, 21-11; Rajasthan 12-21, 21-10, 21-9 and Himachal 21-7, 21-9 in the earlier rounds.
