Gan-Ngai Fest

IMPHAL, Dec 18: A State level Gan-Ngai festival will be observed with the Chief Minister as chief guest on January 8, 2020.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh will inaugurate the festival. Gan-Ngai is derived from Ganmei- bright and Ngaimei-festival. During Gan-Ngai, Kabui bachelors produce fire (Meiba Chingba) and go house to house producing fire and praying for health, peace and prosperity of the community. This festival celebrates the bright fire produced which marks the beginning of a peaceful and bright future, said a statement of the Manipur Kabui Union.
