IMPHAL, Dec 20 : Ration card holders of 42-Tengnoupal and Machi block have threatened to impose an indefinite bandh along the Imphal-Moreh road if the Government and the authorities concerned fail to provide their rice quota within December 22.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, one of the ration card holders of 42-Tengnoupal block Ch Leena Aimol alleged that the ration card holders of Tengnoupal and Machi block have not been receiving their entitled rations regularly.
Leena further alleged that they get ration for only four to five months for the whole year while claiming that the beneficiaries of the neighbouring districts like Chandel and Thoubal get the PDS items on time.
Meanwhile, the card holders of Tengnoupal and Machi block have not even received the items for the month of November and December, which is unfortunate.
Conveying that they have not received 24 months worth of rice quota between 2016 and 2019, Leena asserted that the matter had been addressed to the DC concerned as well to find out the loophole. However, no positive actions have been taken up till date.
Informing that there are more than 2000 ration card holders in the two blocks, Leena urged the authorities concerned to distribute the rice quota to the beneficiaries of the two blocks before Christmas, by December 22.
The card holders will be compelled to launch indefinite bandh along the Imphal-Moreh road if the Government and the authorities concerned fail to meet their demand, Leena added.
