5th Singju Festival from Dec 28

Thoubal, Dec 23: The 5th edition of State-level Manipur Singju Festival will be held from December 28 to January 6, 2020, at  District Sports Complex (Kodompokpi Ground), Wangjing, Thoubal.
The festival will be organised by Singju Yokhat Lup (SYOL) in collaboration with Wangjing United Club.
Speaking to media persons during a press meet held at Wangjing Sports Complex this evening, convenor of Singju Festival Committee 2020, Laimujam Pratap Singh conveyed that the festival will be conducted under the theme "Save Our Indigenous Food, Culture and Integrity".
He also said that the festival aims at promoting this indigenous food (Singju).
Nearly 100 stalls will be opened at the festival site and sell/exhibit different foods and handloom and handicraft items, appealing to be a part of the festival.
As part of the festival, several programmes like musical nite, children spot painting, speech and dance competitions, meet the star and personalities, legal awareness programme, narrative art, media interaction programme, Nokphade, writers' meet, tree plantation, mega blood donation camp, free health camp, symposium on medicinal plants and Miss Singju Queen Contest will be held among others, he added.
The convenor appealed all concerned to co-operate and refrain from calling general strike during the festival.
The press meet was also attended by Singju Festival Committee, chairman Kh Priyojit Meitei; vice-chairman S Premlata;  chief convenor Rakesh Naorem and Wangjing United Club,  convenor Rojen Thongram.
