GA Arosemit Sharma clinches title of 3rd U-15 Rapid Chess Tourney

IMPHAL, Dec 29 : Guruaribam Arosemit Sharma of Shamasakhi High School was crowned the title of the 3rd Under15 Rapid Chess Tournament hosted by Salai Chess Academy at its office at Uripok Huidrom Leikai since December 28.
Arosemit Sharma earned 5.5 points in the tournament organised on Swiss League System consisting of 6 rounds to claim the top honour while Nungshithoi Ngairangbam of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Akampat  and Kshetrimayum Aimson of St Joseph's Hr Secondary School finished second and third with 5 and 4.5 points respectively.
In the U-10 boys category, Dayanand Thoudam of Shishu Nistha Niketan with 4.5 points finished first while Lemba Sougaijam of Heritage Convent earned the second place with 4 points. Meanwhile in the U-10 girls category, Nadia Sougaijam of Heritage Convent amassed 4 points to claim title while Lanchenbee Ngairangbam of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Akampat settled for the second place with 3.5 points score. Top three winners (overall) and winners in U-10 boys and girls categories were feated with cash prizes and trophies in the presence of M Somorjit Singh and A Muhindro Sharma, founder members of SALAI Chess Academy, said a press release of Salai Chess Academy.
Altogether 32 players including 10 girls from different schools participated in the two day chess event, it added.
