Two killed after septic tank explodes

IMPHAL, Jan 28: Two people were killed while another sustained injuries as they were buried under a wall which collapsed at the impact of a septic tank explosion. The incident occurred inside a multi-storeyed building known as Madrassa Mazharul Uloom and located at Bengoon, Imphal West district under Mayang Imphal police station.

Septic tank of the building’s toilet complex exploded all of a sudden at around 2.40 pm today and in the next moment portions of a wall collapsed at the impact of the explosion.

 

 

 

It is suspected that the septic tank exploded as the outlet (pipe) was blocked. Three people sustained injuries as they were buried by the collapsing wall but two of them succumbed to injuries on the way to hospital, informed a source. The deceased have been identified as Md Latif (50) s/o late MV Abdur Rahaman of Bengoon and Md Hussain (13) s/o Ramijuddin of Keirao. The one who escaped with injuries has been identified as Mustakim (15) s/o late Tomba of Bengoon. He is currently undergoing treatment at RIMS.
