IMPHAL, May 11 : L Rolendro scored a hattrick in the second half to hand CYCLONE-A, Thangmeiband a massive 4-1 comeback win against Langol FC at Mapal Kangjeibung in a Group A league match of the ongoing 21st Challenge Cup organised by Manipur Veteran Football Association.
It was an evenly contested match between CYCLONE-A and Langol FC in the first half but the former had full control of the game in the second half with L Rolendro leading at the front to hand his team the second huge win at the tournament.
Langol FC were first to get on the scoreboard as W Ranbir hit the opener in the 17th minute but M Uttam of CYCLONE took only 3 minute to equalise the score. The remaining part of the first half saw few fine exchanges between the two sides but could not convert their chances making it anyone's game till the break.
The game however took a huge turn after the restart as CYCLONE-A showed a much improved side and it was L Rolendro who broke the deadlock in the 40th minute before pumping in two more goals in the 48th and the 53rd minute to steer his team towards a 4-1 finish.
In another Group A league match played earlier, VFC-A, Singjamei registered their second successive win beating UVSA-P (Paona), Lilong Chajing by a slender 1-0 margin. The lone goal that handed Singjamei side all three points was scored by A Jayanta in the 23rd minute of the match.
CYCLONE-B will meet UVSA-T in a Group C league match tomorrow at Football Turf, Khuman Lampak at 2.30 pm while FC YVA will meet IEVSA in another Group C league match latter at 4 pm.
