UG cadres held with arms at border area

IMPHAL, May 11 : In a major breakthrough security forces apprehended seven militants and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition in Kamjong district on May 9, said a late report coming from the PRO of Assam Rifles today.
In a statement issued to the press, the Assam Rifles PRO said that acting on specific intelligence input regarding movement of militants with weapons, an operation was launched in Kamjong district towards Indo-Myanmar border. The security forces successfully apprehended five cadres of PREPAK, one cadre of KYKL and one cadre of UNLF along with weapons and ammunition.
The seized weapons included a 7.62 mm AK 56 Rifle, a 7.62 mm Assault Rifle Type 81, one 9 mm Pistol, 79 rounds of 7.62 mm AK, six 9 mm rounds, three Chinese hand grenades, two rounds of lathod high explosive, three detonators and one magazine of AK and 9mm pistol.
Arrested persons along with weapons were handed over to Imphal police station by the 17 AR. Later IPS referred the case to Kasom Khullen police station.
