Remand for accused

IMPHAL, May 13 : Habitual rape accused Oinam Robinchandra was remanded to seven days in police custody by Duty Magistrate Bishnupur today.
Oinam Robinchandra (49) s/o (L) Chandramohan of Tokpa Ching Mayai Leikai, was arrested yesterday morning from Uripok Bachaspati Leikai by Cyber Crime Unit Imphal West, based on the requisition sent by Women PS Bishnupur to establish the identity and arrest an accused who had raped a girl.
Robinchandra was handed over to the IO of Bishnupur Women PS yesterday evening and soon after that, he was produced before the Duty Magistrate Bishnupur with a prayer for 9 days police custody remand (till May 20).
The IO submitted that the accused was arrested based on the complaint made by the elder sister of the victim stating that on April 11, the victim was raped by the accused after threatening her with dire consequences.
The Court, satisfied with the prayer, remanded Robinchandra into police custody till May 18.
It may be mentioned that Oinam Robinchandra had been out on bail on health ground in connection with an ongoing trial against him before the Court of Session Judge, Thoubal for sexually assaulting a minor victim in April of 2016.
