IMPHAL, May 17: RK Fortune Developer Pvt Ltd MD RK Rameshwar Singh on Friday gifted a newly built house to Khoirom Ningol Sadokpam Ongbi Memcha of Moirang Hanuba Mamang Leikai.
Memcha, 58, a daily wage earner is wife of late S Nilakrishna of Sugnu. After the death of her husband, she has been living at her parental home with the children at Moirang Hanuba Mamang Leirak. She lost functionality of her right hand (from wrist to fingertips) in a fire accident when she was barely a year old. But she has no differently abled certificate as 65 % disability couldn't get her the certificate, she said.
She has a daughter and two sons. Her daughter is married. Due to poor condition of the family her sons are not enrolled in schools, she said. Her youngest son had to drop out of school after passing Class IX due to financial problems, she added.
During the house handover ceremony, RK Rameshwar said that he came across the 'broken house' in the area when he visited some time ago. Shocked and pained by the condition of the house, he contacted local elders and expressed his desire to build a house for Memcha.
Memcha had been living in her 'broken' and worn down house for nearly three years. "I am very happy and grateful to RK Rameshwar for the generous gift. I can never thank him enough for this debt," she said.
Memcha recalled that she had applied for a housing loan and claimed that it was approved by the Chief Minister. However, the local Panchayat didn't approve and the loan is stuck till today, she alleged.
