IMPHAL, May 18 : Kanglei Thang-Ta Sindamshang, Maklang were able to secure the top spot of the medal tally with 7 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze medals on the opening day of the 13th Imphal West District Thang-Ta Championship organised by Imphal West District Thang-Ta Association at Moidampok Ibudhou Korouhanba Haraobung, Imphal West.
The inaugural function of the tournament participated by 181 boys and girls thang-ta players from across 10 units of Imphal West Districts was graced by Aheibam Shanta, social worker; Thounaojam Priyokumar Singh, president, Imphal West District Thang-Ta Association and Laishram Ibobi Singh, social worker as dignitaries.
Day 1 events
Sub-Junior Girls Phunaba Anishuba
K Lucy of MNLTCA, Moidampok opened up the medal account for her unit as she clinched a gold medal in the sub-junior girls U-21 kg category beating her compatriot Th Phajaton in the final.
H Yaiphabi bagged another goal for MNLTCA in the sub-junior U-25 kg category final while W Korea Devi of KTS bagged the silver medal. Jyoti Sunar of KTS opened up the gold medal account for her unit in the U-33 kg category while L Eera bagged another gold in the U-37 kg category beating L Alichia Devi of KRTA, Sagolband.
KTS gold fest continued with T Nigita Chanu who beat Chandani Sunar of MNLTCA in the U-41 kg category final while A Anjalika of PAHULASI, Mayai Koibi finished with bronze medal.
Th Pushparani of Anjika, Sangaiprou added first gold medal for her unit by getting better of AK Sunanda Devi of PAHULASI in the U-45 kg final while Ch Asharani Devi of KTS bagged the bronze medal.
T Roshita of KTS, A Nandibala of PAHULASI and N Linda of KTS respectively bagged the gold, the silver and the bronze medal in the U-49 kg category event while N Julia of KTS, Ch Roshibina of PAHULASI and M Milky Devi of PAHULASI claimed the gold, silver and bronze medal respectively in the U-53 kg event.
Meanwhile in the above 53 kg category event, Sh Rojika of Thang-Ta Maheikol won the gold medal beating K Chanchan of KTS while L Manda Devi secured the bronze medal of the said weight category.
Sub-Junior Boys Phunaba Anishuba
H Yangba Singh of MNLTCA and M Max of PAHULASI were able to grab the gold and the silver medal respectively in the sub-junior boys U-29 kg phunaba anishuba event while L Manikhomba Singh of KTS and H Beneerjee Meetei of PAHULASI finished with gold and silver in the U-33 kg event.
KTS's N Santosh Singh and H Taichung fetched the gold and silver medal in the U-37 kg event while K Loveson Singh of MNLTCA settled for bronze medal.
U-41 kg title went to M Wangthoi of ANJIKA, Sangaiprou while S Rabinash of the same unit claimed the silver medal. H Ridesh Singh of KTS bagged the bronze medal of the weight category.
