Stellar performance bolster CWI's position for team championship title in State Sub-Jr & Jr Wushu Championship

IMphal, May 23: Central Wushu Institure (CWI) added 10 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze on the third day of the competition taking its total tally to 21 gold, 13 silver and 6 bronze to bolster its chance to emerge team champions of the 19th State Level Sub-Junior and Junior Wushu Championship 2019 organized under the aegis of Wushu Association of Manipur at the Indoor Stadium of Khuman Lampak Sports Complex (opposite MOA office) since May 21 while SAI Recreation Club was giving the close fight with the total medals of 8 gold, 6 silver and 9 bronze including the 7 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze collected on the third day of the competition.
A total of 150 sub-junior and junior boys and girls athletes from Central Wushu Institute, Universal Wushu Academy, Imphal East District Wushu Association, Imphal West District Wushu Association, District Wushu Association Kakching, District Wushu Association Thoubal, Bishnupur District Wushu Association and SAIRC, took part in the championship.
Yumnam Jaikumar, Project Director ABD; Dronacharya awardee Leishangthem Ibomcha, center-in-charge SAI-SAG, Imphal; Elangbam Brojendro, vice-chairman Salai Holdings Private Limited; and Mayanglambam Birmani Singh, president Wushu Association of Manipur will grace the closing ceremony as dignitaries and will also distribute the prizes to the winners tomorrow at 3 pm.
On the third day of the championship, Th Kerin (IE) scored 7.20 points to clinch the gold in Gunshu Boys Group-B of Taolu event while SAIRC's M Zenith and L Jivison Meitei scored 6.50 and 6.40 points to collect the silver and bronze medals respectively.
In Gunshu Girls-B, Y Ichantombi (IE) secured 7.20 points while N Jessica (SAIRC) scored 6.30 points to grab the gold and silver medals respectively.
N Nikhil (IW) registered 7.10 points to collect gold in Gunshu Boys Group-C while Surajlal G (CWI) grabbed the silver with 6.50 points.
In Gunshu Girls Group-C, H Keniya (CWI) secured gold with the score of 7.20 points closely followed by silver medallist L Pinky (CWI) scoring 6.80 points.
In Quanshu Boys Group-B, L Nelson Meitei (CWI) scored 6.80 points to clinch the gold while A Tapas (CWI) settled with silver narrowly missing the gold securing 6.70 points.
In Taijijian Girls Group-B, O Malemnganbi (CWI) scored 7.20 points, Carolina (SAIRC) 6.80 points and Tomthinnganbi H (SAIRC) 6.40 points to clinch the gold, silver and bronze medal respectively.
Jonaprince Konsam representing CWI took gold in Taijijan Group-C Girls event by scoring 7.50 points while N Ollica of Imphal East unit ended with silver  medal scoring 7.10 points.
G Devash Sharma of CWI  clinched gold in Nandao  Group-B Boys event by scoring 7.10 points and Sh Sobita lead Nanguan Group-A Girl event with 6.90 points and  took home the gold medal.
In the Changquan Group-A 3rd Sets Girl event, Y Geeta of SAI RC managed to win gold with 6.90 points while O Pakpi Devi, representing CWI took gold  medals in Changquan and Jianshu Group-A 2nd Set Girl events by securing 7.40 and 7.20 points respectively.
In Nanquan and Nandao Group-A 2nd Set Girls events, N Christina of SAI RC collected 7.40 points each to clinch the gold medals.
In Taijijan Group B Boys event, Ngamba Aheiba (7.40), A William (6.90)  and Taruba Khuraijam (6.50) of CWI were placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively while G Devesh Sharma of the same unit claimed gold medal in Nangun, Group-B Boys event by securing 6.90 points.
Sh Subita of SAI RC bagged gold in Nandao Group-A Girls event while Y Geeta Devi, who also represent SAI RC, managed to win gold in Jianshu Group-A 3rd Set Girl event by registering 6.70 points.
O Pakpi of CWI clinched another gold medal in Quanshu Group-A 2nd Set event by posting 6.90 points.  N Christina received the top prize in Nangun Group B Girls event with a total points of 6.80.
Meanwhile, Arun Sao of Bishnupur and W Athouba Singh of SAI RC finished with bronze medals  in Sanshou Boys Sub Junior under 24kg category.
M Bikash, representing Universal Wushu Academy, Thoubal (UWA) and Ksh Gyanson of District Wushu Association, Kakching bagged bronze medals in U-28 Kg while N Bije of UWA and Th Santikumar of District Wushu Association, Thoubal took the bronze medals.
In Sub-Junior boys U-32 kg category, N Bijen of Universal Wushu Academy Thoubal and Th Shantikumar Thoubal collected bronze while in U-36 category, L Ronald (Thoubal) and A Yaiphaba (IW) settled with bronze.
N Thanil (Tbl) and M Telheiba (Kak) bagged bronze in U-40 kg category while N Srinivas of Universal Wushu Academy Thoubal and M Dinesh of Kakching finished with bronze in U-45 kg category.
In U-48 kg category, B Jenish (IW) Sharma and N Henry Singh (Kak) also finished with bronze while Ch Mangalsana (IW) and L Mahesh (IW) took bronze medal in U-52 kg category.
In U-56 kg category, H Ashajit (IE) and Y Arnold (Kak) collected the bronze medal.
