Meira FC emerge champions of MAICHON Trophy Soccer tourney

IMPHAL, May 26 : Meira FC, Tekcham beat BOLERO FC, Singjamei 6-5 on penalties after a goalless draw in during regulation time to win the title of the 1st MAICHON Trophy Soccer Tournament organised by Manipur Imagi Changdamnapham Oiba Nachasing, MAICHON at Charangpat Mamang Leikai.
Both Meira FC and BOLERO FC displayed close competition for the title but neither side could find the net during regulation time due to lack of finishing touch or intensity thereby required stretching the game to penalty shoot-out to decide the winners.
Meira FC proved to be the superior side in the shoot-out as Oken, Chikhak, Jonson, Rabindra, Gouro and Govind found the back of the net against BOLERO FC which managed 5 goals through Anand, Sandeep, Jenish, Sobha and Sanatomba.
Winners Meira FC walked away with a cash prize of Rs 50,000 while runners up BOLERO FC were awarded Rs 30,000. Deny FC bagged the best discipline team award worth Rs 3,000.
Top scorer of the tournament, Md Sahidur of Meira FC; Best Goalkeeper, Bishorjit of Meira FC; Best Defender, Sandeep of Bolero FC; Best Striker, Mahesh of A2 Patsoi; Man of the final match, Gouro of Meira FC and Best Player of the tournament,  Phalguni of BOLERO FC were also feted with Rs 2,000 each during the closing ceremony.
