Police remand

IMPHAL, Jun 17: An individual identified as Guruaribam Ranjan Sharma (39), who was arrested by Porompat PS on charges of attempting to murder one Thongam Govind last night at Bharmapur Aribam Leikai, near Water Supply, has been remanded to three days police custody by  the Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal East.
Guruaribam Ranjan Sharma alias Anjan alias Kon (39) s/o (L) Chandras Sharma of Bharmapur Guruaribam Leikai was produced before the Court today along with a prayer for three days police custody remand for smooth investigation of the case.
During the hearing, the IO of the case (through the APP) submitted that yesterday, the victim's father lodged a complaint to Porompat PS claiming that his son, Thongam Govind of Bamon Leikai Lalji Lakpa Leikai, was assaulted by the accused near Bharmapur Aribam Leikai water supply with a knife and other deadly weapons without any reason.
Due to the assault Thongam Govind was seriously injured on his abdomen and other parts of the body and as such he was evacuated to Raj Medicity for treatment. The accused fled from the spot, the complainant alleged.
On the basis of the complaint, an FIR case was registered against the accused and a team of Porompat PS arrested him from Singjamei Sapam Leikai.
During preliminary, interrogation the accused Ranjan admitted to the charges levelled against him and also disclosed that he had used a nail cutter to commit the crime and as such the police team seized the nail cutter from him as well.
The Court heard and went through the case record and remanded the accused to three days in police custody, till June 19.
