IMPHAL, Jun 18: The CBI (Anti Corruption Branch) Imphal registered an FIR against the Executive Engineers, Sub Divisional officers, first class contractor, officials of Nagaland Public Works Department (NPWD) and some other individuals for criminal conspiracy, cheating and criminal misconduct by public servants, yesterday.
The FIR was lodged against K Nikato Assumi, EE (Housing), Rukonggutou Suoho, EE (Electric Division), Vekhu Swuro, retired EE, N Kikheto Swu, retired EE, Kelechuto Pienyu, EE, Tonzuk Ao, Hutokha, SDO, Hutokha SDO, Nima Kath, SDO, Yapang Jamir, Junior Engineer, Mhasivilie Savino, Junior Engineer (all of them at Nagaland Public Work Department), Avitue Sekhose, proprietor of M/S Vilelie Khamo, Avitue Sekhose, proprietor of M/S Khedi Trade and Development Agency (a sister company of M/S KLAS Enterprise), Beinyu Miachieo, proprietor of M/S Oking Electrical, Thepfusatuo, Managing Director of M/S Hexzad Syndicate and some other individuals, following an order passed by the Gauhati High Court on May 2 last year in connection with a Suo Moto case for alleged misappropriation of public money with regard to the snail pace of construction work at the new High Court complex at Kohima (Nagaland) and to submit the report before Registrar, High Court, within three months.
The preliminary enquiry was registered at CBI, ACB Guwahati Branch against M/S Velelie Khamo (Class I contractor) on May 21 last year and it was found that the project for the construction of New High Court Complex at Kohima was taken up by Nagaland PWD as the executing agency under “deposit work” through various contractors and with the Department of Justice and Law, Government of Nagaland, as the user Department. The enquiry found that the accused engineers of Nagaland PWD were involved in a criminal conspiracy with each other and the accused contractors had misused a total of Rs 3,61,72, 552 while resorting to substandard construction of the High Court. The FIR mentioned that as per the preliminary enquiry, it came to light that Vekho Swuro, retired EE, N Kikheto Swu, retired EE, Kelechuto Pienuiu, EE, Hukhokha, SDO, Nimo Kath, SDO and Mhasivilie Savino, Junior Engineer (all working for NPWD) conspired with one another thereby causing loss to the Nagaland Government.
As such, the preliminary enquiry of the CBI (ACB) Guwahati was converted into a regular case against the accused officials of NPWD and others, by Inspector Kh Bedajit Inspector CBI (ACB) Imphal for investigation.
