IMPHAL, Jun 19 : PUBG United Angtha defeated Young Boys, Angtha 6-5 on penalties today to clinch the title of the 1st Yumlembam Bijen Singh Memorial Soccer Tournament organised by Future Football Coaching Centre, Angtha.
Both the teams failed to opened up the scoring in both halves of the game and the winners were ultimately decided via penalty shoot-out wherein Rocky, Ajit, Binan, Shanta, James and Bimol found the net for PUBG United while only Suraj, Nganthoi, Malemnganba, Olen and Prem scored for Young Boys.
NFC on the other hand finished third in this tournament with a 1-0 win against Yambem FC. The winning goal of NFC was netted by Irabot in the 25th minute of the match.
K Rocky of PUBG United emerged top scorer of the tournament with 8 goals in his name while Th Dipak and Y Santa of the same team were respectively adjudged best goalkeeper and best defender. Young Boys' N Olen was named best player of the tournament while Langathel FC walked away as best discipline team.
Winners, PUBG United were feted with Rs 30,000 and a trophy while runners up team were awarded Rs 20,000. The individual prize winners were encouraged with Rs 1,000 each while the best discipline team got Rs 2,000.
