IE Subroto Mukerjee Football: Poiroukhongjin HS win U17 Girls title, Reliance Academy emerge U17 Boys winners

IMPHAL, Jun 23 : Poiroukhongjin HS snatched a 2-1 win against Brighter Public School, Andro today at Turf Ground to win the U-17 girls title at the District Level Inter School Subroto  Mukerjee Football Tournament organised by DYASO, Imphal East. Reliance Academy on the other hand defeated Unique Model Academy 4-3 on penalties to win the U-17 boys title. Both the winners will be representing the IE at the State level Subroto Mukerjee Football tourney (for U-17 boys and girls competitions).
Nirmala gave Brighter PS a good start as she found the breakthrough in the 12th minute but to their disappointment Promila converted a fine chance to pull level for Poiroukhongjin side in the 14th minute before S Uma overturned the lead in the 23rd minute.
The scoreline remained unchanged despite numerous attempts from both the ends and eventually Poiroukhongjin HS were crowned champions.
Reliance Academy emerge U-17 boys champs
Reliance Academy and Unique Model Academy, Heingang play out a goalless draw during normal time of the U-17 boys final match and eventually winners were decided via kicks from the penalty marks wherein the former team came out on top.
Toper, Kh Sanamacha and Kiran scored for the losing side in the shoot-out while Somokanta, Bidyachandra, Johnson and Aboy scored for Reliance Academy.
Stage set for U-14 boys final
Free Progress Academy will lock horns with Unique Model Academy in the U-14 final tomorrow at Turf Ground. Free Progress Academy reached the final with a comfortable 3-0 win against Reliance Academy today. Unique Model Academy also romped past Princeton International School 3-0 to set up the final meeting.
In the first semi-final of the competition, M Biker scored twice and Johnson added a single to set the 3-0 win for Free Progress Academy.
M Biker broke the deadlock in the 39th minute after both Reliance Academy and Free Progress Academy failed to convert open up the scoring in the first half, and hit his second 6 minutes latter to make it 2-0. The impetus of the remained with Free Progress Academy as Reliance Academy struggled to find reply back and it was Johnson who tucked in the finisher in the 50th minute of the match.
Meanwhile in the second semi-final, Unique Model Academy rode on a goal by Y Monis (9') and a brace from Anna Roy (13', 15') to complete the 3-0 rout of Princeton International School.
