IMPHAL, Jul 1 : Chumbang FC blanked Chengkhu FC 4-0 while Unapal beat Pakan United by 5-2 goals on penalties to make themselves into the next round of 3rd KAPAAM Cup Invitation Football Tournament 2019 organised by Kapaam Development Club at its playground.
Chumbang FC which saw off NWYC by 2-0 goals in their previous fixture, maintained their fine form to overwhelm Chengkhu FC 4-0 in a dominating second round clash today. Malreng made the most of the scoring for the victorious side as he netted two goals while Rona Hmar and Winkle added a goal each to set up the huge win against lacklustre Chengkhu FC.
The both teams had a cautious start to the game and were busy countering one another to deny the lead but Chumbang FC managed to open up the scoring in the 39th minute to make it 1-0 till the break.
Chengkhu FC resisted rampant Chumbang FC for a major portion of the second half but slipped towards the end of the match as Malreng doubled the net in the 74th minute before Winkle added the third four minutes latter. Malreng rose again during the first minute of the stoppage time (80+1') and completed the 4-0 rout of Chengkhu FC which reached the second round with a 5-4 shoot-out win against Liwachangning.
Elsewhere in another second round clash, Unapal FC knocked Pakan United out of the tournament with a 5-2 shoot-out win after a 1-1 draw during normal time. Dalung of Unapal team scored the opener in the 23rd minute of the match before Sana of Pakan United drew level in the 72nd minute. As the two sides failed to broke the deadlock the winners were decided via penalty shoot-out wherein only Kagaly scored for Pakan United against 4 goals by Unapal team as Aboi, Eminhao, Lungunhao and Solomon made no mistake in beating the rival keeper.
