JNMDA celebrates Rath Yatra

IMPHAL, Jul 9 : Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy (JNMDA) Imphal kicked off a two day Rath Yatra (Kang Kumhei) celebration at the academy's mandap today.
Eminent theatre personality Ratan Thiyam graced the function as the chief guest while Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy Imphal vice chairman Professor H Tombi attended as functional president.
Speaking at the inaugural function, Ratan Thiyam lauded the academy for organising the programme while adding that  JNMDA has been playing important roles in promoting Sankriti but also in upholding the very culture and traditions of the State.
He urged all to follow the path of the pioneers/Gurus who contributed immensely in promoting and saving the State's art and culture.
During the function, Y Jatra presented Khubak Esei and  Ksh Kriti also performed Pung Yeiba while another group, M Manisana showed Khubak Esei and O Joy performed Pung Yeiba.
Manipur Sahitya Parishad president, IS Kangjam will grace tomorrow's function as the chief guest and JNMDA Imphal visiting Guru E Chaobhal will attend as the president.
