Relief Centre for the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons submits memorandum to Union Minister

IMPHAL, Jul 19: Relief Centre for the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons, Manipur vice-president Lenin H has submitted a 10 point charter of demand to Union Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment through MP Dr RK Ranjan Singh at New Delhi.
The 10 points include demand for a State Disabilities Policy, implementation of 4% reservation under section 33 of Right of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016.
It also appealed for 'Special Recruitment Drive'  to fill up  vacancies for persons with disabilities.
Barrier free features should be ensured in all public building and places. All the passenger vehicles should be modified to make them disabled friendly. Auditory signals should be installed at red lights on public roads  to aid visually handicapped persons, the charter of demand read.
All students with disabilities, particularly blind, should be provided computers with necessary screen reader software, digital books and others necessary aids and appliances required for their study, it said.
