Manipur ISL players, Manipur XI play exhibition match to raise funds for AKWDFP

KANGPOKPI, Jul 21: In a land like Manipur where playing soccer is synonymous with its people, it is football which connects people irrespective of colour or tribes and this was witnessed on Friday (July 19) when football fans across the state came together to witness ISL Players and Manipur XI players playing for a cause.
Organised by the Kuki-Anglo Documentary Film Project (AKWDFP) to raise fund for their upcoming documentary film project, the grand football exhibition match was graced by that state DGP, LM Khuate, IPS as chief guest; Christopher Doungel, IPS and ADGP Govt  of Manipur, Dr Satkai Chongloi, Kumpi, Khaimang Chongloi, President KIM as guest of honours while Jangmang Haokip, Chairman Anglo-Kuki War Centenary Commemoration Committee (AKWCCC) attended as functional president.
AKWDFP under the aegis of AKWCCC is working on documentary film on the roles of valiant Kuki war heroes who have sacrifices their lives in the Anglo-Kuki War of 1917-1919 against the mighty British Imperial in defence of their ancestral land and freedom.
ISL stars which featured in the said match include Dheeraj, Semboi, Seityasen, Reagan, Pritam, Ranjan, Chinglensana, Seigoumang Doungel, Md Yasir, Thoi, Jacki, Mangku, Loken, Reuben, Len Doungel, Lun Doungel and Rakip while Manipur XI players included S Tuboi, Subhash Singh, Reisangmi Vashum, Bishor-jit, Jerry Pulamte, Sandeep Singh, Roshan, Patrick Kamei, Gouro, Nelson Kom, Biaklian Paite, Mangkholen, Mong Mangte, Paolenmang, Paolenlal, Thangboilen, Lallenmang, Bedeenper, Abelson Chiru and Haolengou.
Renowned artists, Michael Luncha Kipgen, the evergreen legendary pop singer, Sorri Senjam and Muan Hangzo enthralled the audience before match kick-off. The exhibition match was won by team ISL 2-0.
The organising committee conveyed gratitude to donors, individuals, well-wishers, AMFA, management and staff of Christian Hospital Imphal (CHI) and media fraternity for making the event a grand success.
