IMPHAL, Jun 23: The Christian Network Positive Women Union (CNPWU) has decried the growing incidents of crime and violence against women.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club this afternoon, CNPWU programme coordinator RS Wanchung said that they were deeply concerned with the attack on U Nobokishore’s daughter Thoibi at Singjamei Naorem Leikai by some gunmen on July 4 although she escaped unscathed.
Since then, crimes and violence against women have been increasing. Women and girls have been killed at different places including Chingmeirong and one school.
Nobokishore as well as his wife Sobita are human rights activists and the attack on the daughter smacks of a deeper conspiracy. As such, the Government need to investigate into the matter and pull up all the culprits, Wanchung demanded.
