Soil testing centre inaugurated

IMPHAL, Jul 25 : Mahindra Samriddhi Centre, a soil testing centre was inaugurated at Machelva Agro Machineries and Services, Malom Bazar today.
Deputy Chairman, State Planning Board, GoM as well as MLA Sorokhaibam Rajen graced the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest while National Business Head Mahindra Samriddhi Vijay Sharma, project coordinator, Small Farmers' Agri-Business Consortium, GoM MS Khaidem and regional manager Mahindra Samriddhi Lokesh Lakhchoura were also present at the function.
Speaking on the occasion, S Rajen maintained that it is rather a commendable initiative of opening up a soil testing centre for the welfare of the farmers.
The soil testing centre -Mahindra Samriddhi Centre is owned by Th Baleshwor.
Rajen stressed on the need to extend all possible support and cooperation to Prime Minister's vision of doubling farmers income by 2020 and increasing productivity and making Manipur a self-reliant State. He went on to state that it will be deteriorating for the people of the State if they continue to consume chemically treated crops and vegetables while adding that, in order to combat this, all stakeholders are striving to increase the organic produce.
Maintaining that over Rs four to five crore is spent in importing fish from other place and more money is spent on buying fish feeds, he informed that fishery office in Lamphel has started making fsh feeds.
The feeds was made available to the people at Rs 40-50 per Kg (which normally cost around Rs 75 per kg).
