DM course for Nephrology opened at RIMS

IMPHAL, Jul 26 : RIMS Director Professor A Shanta has conveyed that a DM (Super Speciality) course in Nephrology has been opened at RIMS.
Speaking to media persons today, Professor Shanta stated that the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, GoI has given approval to start DM course in Nephrology at RIMS.
He said that the last date for admission to the said course is August 31.
The Director informed that an all India examination will be held for the course and two candidates will be selected to study at RIMS Imphal, where they will be taught by professors of RIMS.
The course was opened for the first time in the North East region at Guwahati Medical College and RIMS Imphal is the second location that the course is being opened, he added.
The course will benefit all people suffering  from kidney diseases in the State and the neighbouring States as well.
The Director expressed hope that the course will also provide an opportunity to good students/doctors of the State to pursue the super specialist courses as it has been set up here and added that RIMS Imphal might even start Kidney transplant programme in the near future too.
The notification for the date of the all India examination has not been issued yet.
