Govt's failure shocking : Joykisan

IMPHAL, Jul 30: Thangmeiband AC MLA, Th Joykisan has alleged that the shocking failure of the Ministers, top police officials and civil officials to make any stand or statement regarding Babysana's death, point towards the existence of a gang of powerful elites who are even able to silence the Government.
Speaking to media persons at Khoyathong Puja Community hall today, Joykisan continued that despite immense pressure from the JAC, CSOs, Meira Paibis and student unions, the State Government and the authorities concerned have been keeping mum regarding the incident till date.
Stating that he does not consider handing over of the case to the CBI as a win, the MLA alleged that in reality, the case has not been handed over to the CBI till now and only a letter was sent to the Home Ministry requesting the same.
Further claiming that the inconsistent announcements made by the police are also misleading the people, Joykisan urged all those concerned not to make Babysana's case into a similar one with that of Pravish Chanam.
The Thangmeiband MLA then alleged that there is a gang of powerful people who are even able to silence the Government in the State and lamented that the Chief Minister who often make bold statements at many events, the current Education Minister who was once an SP, the Chief Secretary and the DGP are all silent now.
He further alleged that the notion that cases which are handed to CBI usually take a long time to get solved, is in reality due to the failure to actually hand over the case to the CBI itself.
In the case of Pravish Chanam, it was claimed that the case had been given to the CBI  but later, in the Assembly House, it came to light that it was not so, he added.
He then asked what the Home Ministry will think of the situation if the authorities constantly keep changing the contents and claims it submits to the Ministry.
Lamenting that two wardens of Standard Robarth Hr Sec School were arrested only after AMSU upped the pressure, Joykisan opined that he suspects the two individuals will be turned into scapegoats to save the skin of the real culprit (s).
He then appealed to the people, CSOs, Meira Paibis etc to keep fighting until justice is delivered for Babysana.
