IMPHAL, Jul 31 : H Keinahal Memorial English School (HKMES), Langmeidong (representing Thoubal district) secured 206 points to win the 23rd State Level Bharatiyam Competition 2018-19 which was organised by Department of Youth Affairs and Sports at Indoor Stadium Khuman Lampak.
Sanatombi Oriental English School (199 points), Bishnupur district and Grace Cottage Academy (196 points), Kakching district finished second and third respectively in this competition which was participated by 14 schools representing various districts of the State.
The winners were feted with Rs 20,000 along with trophies during the valedictory function of the competition which was graced by Bobby Waikhom, IAS, Commissioner, Youth Affairs and Sports and chief guest; Armstrong Pame, Director Youth Affairs and Sports as functional president and Kh Pramoda Devi, Joint Director Youth Affairs and Sports as guest of honour.
Second and third placed teams were also encouraged with cash prizes worth Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 along with trophies. Other school teams participating at the competition were also encouraged with Rs 8,000 each.
Coaches RK Surjit and N Joykumar of HKMES were honoured with Rs 7,000 while L Phunil and M Ranjit who led both Sanatombi Oriental English School and Grace Cottage Academy received Rs 6,000 and Rs 5,000.
