Ex-UCM president joins BJP

IMPHAL, Jul 7: Johnson Elangbam, ex-president of the United Committee Manipur (UCM) has joined BJP today.
Johnson enrolled himself in BJP at a membership enrolment camp held at his Keishamthong Elangbam Leikai residence.
He was welcomed warmly by BJP Manipur Pradesh Organising Secretary P Premchand Meitei, State enrolment in-charge L Deben and others.
Speaking at the gathering, P Premchand said the BJP’s strength has been growing by leaps and bounds.
With dedicated social workers such as Johnson Elangbam now enrolled in BJP, the party’s fortune will certainly multiply in the State, Premchand said.
Claiming that BJP is committed to people’s and State’s welfare, Premchand said that neither former BJP leaders nor incumbent ones ever indulge in family or parochial politics. There is no distinction between the rich and the poor within BJP, he said.
Johnson Elangbam claimed that he has been working as a social activist since 1988 and was associated with several civil society organisations till May 2018.
He said that he has taken the path of electoral politics from today at the insistence of the people of Keishamthong AC.
Johnson said that he joined BJP so that he can fight all major issues of the State at his best level.
