IMPHAL, Aug 10 : Liwa Changning YCC overcame Chumbang FC in 3-2 goals in a thrilling final encounter to win the title of the 8th Cheengkhu Premier Cup-2019 organised by Cheengkhu Youth Club at Mini Stadium, Chandel Christian.
The two finalists proved why they were best for the title contest as they shared almost equal possession and chances throughout but luck favoured Liwa Changning YCC which eventually finished the game 3-2 .
Winkle of Chumbang FC who was in prolific form since their first match failed to impress his fans today but consistent Bisorjit struck twice to help Liwa Changning YCC lift the trophy and walked home Rs 30,000 richer.
Chumbang started the game on a positive note with Winkle drawing first blood in the 13th minute but Liwa Changning YCC replied quickly and draw level through star of the day Bisorjit in the 15th minute.
Liwa Changning then went into the break with 2-1 lead with Kopalmson converting a nice chance in the 35th minute after trading some runs on both ends. Liwa Changning YCC had the most of the possession for a major portion after the break and Bisorjit capitalised on another chance to solidify their lead in the 61st minute before Chumbang FC tightened up their defence and toiled hard to reduce the deficit.
Chumbang FC, which had registered landslide victories en route to the finals, failed to make the most of their chances created latter on except at the fag end when Rengshem scored during the stoppage time (80+4') and made it 2-3.
The final match was graced by SS Manglem Monsang, Member of ADC Chandel; Tonsingrungval Anal, president NCAC and Katty Hary Anal- Member, ADC Chandel as dignitaries besides crowds supporting the two sides. The runners up team, Chumbang FC were also encouraged with Rs 20,000.
