State Weightlifting Championship underway, TCMDC lead with 4 gold medals

IMPHAL, Aug 13 : The 21st Youth, 22nd Junior and 23rd Senior State Weightlifting Championship organised by Manipur Weightlifting Association began today at SAI-SAG Hall, Utlou in the presence of L Dayamoi Singh, chairman and founder of Marjing Private Ltd, Imphal; Ng Rashtrapati, president, Manipur Weightlifting Association and M Lokendro Singh, working president, Manipur Weightlifting Association as dignitaries.
Altogether 82 athletes from across 12 weightlifting units will be competing for top honours in this two day championship.
The first day of the championship witnessed Sh Shaolin of SAI-UTLOU clinch the gold medal in the youth's 55 kg event with a total lift of 175 kg, 75 in snatch and 100 kg in clean and jerk. Dikash Yumnam of NSA who lifted a total of 149 kg and H Adison Singh of TDWA who managed 130 kg lift claimed the silver and bronze medal respectively.
Th Khambaton Singh earned NSA a gold medal in the youth's 49 kg event with a total effort of 165 kg, 71 kg in snatch and 94 kg in clean and jerk while his compatriot N Tomchou finished with the silver medal for his 163 kg lift.
Raguanghuai Newmai of IKYC won the bronze medal for this category with a 111 kg lift.
L Deny Singh of TDWA was able to win the junior's 55 kg category gold with a total lift of 111 kg including 51 kg in snatch and 60 kg in clean and jerk.
In the 45 kg youth women's event, SAI-Utlou's P Abethoi lifted 102 kg, 46 kg in snatch and 56 kg in clean and jerk to win the gold while L Roshini of YCUAL (94 kg) and N Jenebi Devi of IKYC (85 kg) respectively claimed the silver and bronze medal. H Jinarani Devi of TCMDC who lifted 153 kg, 63 in snatch and 90 in clean and jerk, won the 45 kg senior women's gold.
In the 49 kg senior women's event, Kh Roshibina Devi of SAI-Imphal recorded 146 kg lift, 63 kg in snatch and  83 kg in clean and jerk to win the gold medal while Ruhani of TDWA  who was participating both in the senior and junior event bagged the silver with a close 144 kg lift.
B Adaziini Agnes of NSA bagged the bronze with 101 kg lift.
K Nomita of TDWA bagged the youth women's 49 kg category gold with her 150 kg lift, 66 kg in snatch and 84 kg in clean and jerk to bag a gold medal. Th Sanju of TCMDC who lifted 130 kg and Ch Yaiphabi Devi of IKYC who managed 95 kg the silver and the bronze medals of this category.
E Quasar fetched a gold medal for KIMYC with her performance of 165 kg, 75 kg in snatch and 90 kg in clean and jerk, in the junior women's 49 kg event while Kh Roshibina Devi of SAI-Imphal bagged the silver medal.
Women's 55-59 kg (youth, jr and sr)
SAI-Imphal fetched a gold medal in the senior women's 59 kg with P Shakhenbi Devi finishing top by lifting 182 kg (82 kg snatch and 100 in clean and jerk) while her compatriot Ch Nirmala managed 165 kg to win the silver.
Chingjuan Neina of NSA with a 133 kg lift (58 kg in snatch and 75 kg in clean and jerk) claims both the senior and junior women's 55 kg category gold medal.
Kh Priyaluxmi of PRSC won the 55 kg youth women's gold lifting 66 kg in snatch and 86 kg in clean and jerk. Ng Ballerina Devi of YDC who lifted 110 kg and YCUAL's Kh Elizah Chanu who managed 102 kg bagged the silver and the bronze medal respectively.
TCMDC's Shandrella Huiyam on the other hand bagged the youth women's 59 kg event gold with 59 kg lift in snatch and 74 kg lift in clean and jerk. NSA's A Debaarbina Chanu (120 kg) and IKYC's Soyaphy Machinao (114 kg) finished second and third to win the silver and the bronze medal respectively.
S Nirupama Devi of TCMDC also fetched two gold medals as she lifted 185 kg (80 kg in snatch and 105 kg in clean and jerk) in both 64 kg junior and senior women's events while Y Shilheinganbi Chanu of SAI-COE won both the silver medals with a lift of 177 kg. P Umeshwori Devi of SAI-Utlou bagged a gold medal in the youth women's 64 kg event as she lifted 76 kg in snatch and 102 kg in clean and jerk to finish with 178 kg total while Kh Anjali of YDC (150 kg) and K Yaiphabi of YCUAL (135 kg) win the second and the third place.
