Lorho Pfoze gives pep talk to students at DBC Maram

Senapati, Aug 20: Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha MP from Outer Manipur), Dr Lorho S Phoze has urged the students to focus on the things they want to become, saying that, unless one is focused, one cannot achieve the desired dream in life.
Dr Lorho was speaking at the felicitation of successful students at  Don Bosco College, Maram, Senapati district on Tuesday. Altogether 65 Degree rank holders in examination conducted by the Manipur University and one meritorious student who has cleared the COHSEM Class XII were feted.
The Lok Sabha MP urged the gathering to grab all opportunities that come. Urging the students to seek God’s help, the MP stated that one may prepare for battle but victory lies in God where many failed in their lives for not seeking God’s help irrespective of whatever religion one may follow.
With the increased in the number of rank holders from last year's 54 to 66 this year, the MP expressed hope that the college will produce more successful students in future. He also wished that the institution becomes an autonomous University and gives young leaders in the days to come.
Rev Fr Dr KO Sebastian, Principal of the college while congratulating the successful candidates, expressed gratitude to all the parents/guardians for choosing the institution to send their wards/children.
Speaking on behalf of the rank holders, Mairembam Kananbala Devi who secured 10th position in History, stated that the rigorous mock tests and examinations in the college help them to be more alert and prepare better for the final examination. Kananbala narrated that when she sought admission in the college, she had signed a 'deal' to secure to position. "I worked my best to keep that promise. It is a dream come true all thanks to Don Bosco Collage, Maram. The college is truly an example of Unity in Diversity that provided a sound environment for all to study under a common roof," she said.
Quoting an Italian proverb she said, “It is not enough to aim, one must hit.”
Dr Sougrakpam Neli, Department of Zoology on behalf of the staff stated that the 66 rank holders produced by the college are 'pearls' of DBC, Maram.
Their achievements have inspired juniors to follow and do more, Dr Neli said expressing gratitude to parents, students and people of Maram.
DC Senapati Somorjit Salam, who attended the event as guest of honour, also congratulated and encouraged the students for their future endeavours.
ADC members, student leaders, women leaders, parents and guardians of the rank holders and students of the college attended the event.
