Further remand for Kangleipal

IMPHAL, Aug 20: KCP Maoist leader Sapam Kangleipal was produced before the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal East today and remanded for 5 more days in police custody, till August 24.
Sapam Kangleipal Meetei alias Chirangelen alias Sarat (38) s/o Shyamsunder of Nongada Awang Leikai, who is also the Chairman of KCP Maoist, was produced before the Court following completion of 10 days police custody at Porompat PS in connection with a case which was registered against him in connection with his escape from JNIMS security ward on December 29, 2008 (while he was being kept for treatment).
During the hearing today, the IO, through the APP, prayed for further police remand of the KCP Maoist leader as thorough interrogation was still needed and the Court allowed the prayer, thus remanding Sapam Kangleipal to police custody till August 24.
Similarly, self styled finance secretary, Wahengbam Thoi Luwang and KCP (Peoples War Group) active member Kangabam Roshan, were also produced before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West, and further remanded to 3 more days in police custody, till August 22.
Wahengbam Thoi Luwang alias John alias Thawailakpa (36) s/o (L) Thaba of Wabagai Terapishak and Kangabam Roshan (27) s/o (L) Gogo of Brahmapur Thangapat Mapal were produced before the Court following the completion of ten days police custody remand at Lamphel PS, in connection with an FIR case which was registered against them in May this year.
During the hearing, the IO of the case prayed for remanding the two individuals to three more days in police custody for more investigation of the case and the Court granted the prayer, thus remanding them to police custody till August 22.
It may be mentioned that all three individuals were arrested by a combined team of Imphal West, Imphal East and Patna police, from Hardinge road, Patna (near Patna Junction) in the night of August 8.
They were brought back to Imphal on three different flights, by officers of Imphal West and Imphal East police on August 11, after taking transit remand from a Patna Court the previous day (August 10).
