State Level Jeet Kune-Do Championship: Thoubal district amass 23 medals to inch towards champions title

IMPHAL, Aug 3 : Thoubal district are on the brink of becoming the champions of 9th State Level Jeet Kune-Do Championship being held at Uripok Achom Leikai Basketball court cum Community Hall under the aegis of Jeet Kune-Do Association of Manipur, as the unit had maintained a distant lead from other units with 12 gold, 9 silver and 2 bronze medals at the end of the second day.
Thoubal players prevailed today in various events of different age and weight groups to take a sudden leap in the championship which will culminate on August 4. Bishnupur unit are in the second place with a total of 4 gold and 2 silver medals while Imphal West sealed the third place with 2 gold and 2 silver medals on day 2.
Thoubal district grabbed both the gold and the silver medals in the below 10 years girls' 34 kg and above event as S Daina Devi beat her compatriot Ningoleima in the final.
K Lanchenba Singh of the same unit bagged the gold medal in the below 10 years boys' 34 kg-36 kg event beating his compatriot Kh White in the final.
Thoubal's L Khuman Ngamba and N Sanathoi Singh respectively bagged gold and the silver medal in the below 10 years boys'  28-30 kg event before their unit mates, Sh Stelon and Th Roberth won the gold and the silver for the below 14 years 35-37 kg event.
The gold rush of Thoubal unit continued with Kh Kumarsanu clinching the below 17 years 46-49 kg event title beating his unit mate David Khumujam in the final.
M Bijeya Devi of the same unit added another gold medal in the below 19 years girls 45-50 kg event after beating her compatriot I Indira in the final while H Memthoi won the below 17 years girls 55-58 gold with breaking any sweat.
L Pushpa Devi also win the below 17 years girls 64 kg and above gold without any contest.
Kh Sanathoi of Thoubal on the other hand got the better of W Ithoi Singh of Bishnupur in the below 17 years boys 52-55 kg event final. Amarjit Seram of Thoubal bagged the bronze medal.
Ch Alex Singh of Thoubal also bagged another gold in the below 19 years boys 60-65 kg event.
Bishnupur district's L Pari (below 17 years boys' 40-43 kg) won the gold medal for the unit without any contest today while Ng Saniya grabbed another gold for the same unit with beating Ak Omita of Thoubal in the below 14 years girls 4547 kg final.
A Abit also won a gold medal for Bishnupur as he downed S Thoinao of Thoubal unit in the below 14 years boys' 49-51 kg final.
Imphal West unit managed to pocket 2 gold medals today.
H Nandeshori bagged the first gold medal for the unit in the below 8 years girls' 27 kg and above event beating Melinda M of Bishnupur in the final.
The other gold medal came from L Tushila who got the better of L Abethoi of Thoubal in the final of below 14 years girls' 51 kg and above event. S Chanchana of Thoubal won the bronze medal in this event.
Imphal East's Md Aziz Khan opened up the medal account for his unit winning the gold medal in the below 17 years boys' 49-52 kg event.
