Imphal West 1st Division League: YAC rout GC-CRPF 5-1, WAFA edge past THAU

IMPHAL,  Aug 4  : YAC, Yaiskul thrashed GC-CRPF, Langjing by 5-1 goals while GC WAFA, Wangoi had a 2-1 comeback win against THAU, Thangmeiband today at Football Turf Ground, Khuman Lampak in the ongoing 26th L Sangita Memorial Imphal West First Division Football League Tournament.
The 12th league match saw, WAFA fight back from a goal down to emerge on top with 2-1 goals against THAU.
Samson gave THAU the lead in the 21st minute of the game after a cautious start from both the sides but Michael of WAFA pulled level in the 33rd minute before his team-mate Kherson completed the turnaround 6 minutes latter.
WAFA then managed to survive the late scare from their Thangmeiband rivals in the latter part and eventually went home with a 2-1 finish.
Borish (40+2') and Ajit (77') of WAFA and THAU's W Robertson (16') and Sushil (80+2') saw yellow cards in the match.
Meanwhile, YAC posted the biggest win of the tournament as Arunkumar did the star turn with a treble and Naoba score twice to complete the 5-1 rout of GC-CRPF.
YAC were slow off the blocks as GC-CRPF had the better share of the earlier exchanges and led the first half 1-0 with Jesie Lalnunthung netting the sole goal for the team in the 21st minute.
YAC however lifted their game soon after the restart making a more aggressive approach and it took 8 minutes for the team to draw parity as Arunkumar hit his first goal. They sustained their momentum with midfields and forwards working in tandem and reversed the lead when Naoba found the back of GC-CRPF's net in the 60th minute. There was no looking back for the team afterwards and Arunkumar and Naoba proved to be consistent threats to the CRPF defence. Arunkumar then struck his second in the 69th minute before striking another during the stoppage time (80+1') while Naoba grabbed his second in the 77th minute of the match.
SCK will take on SICO in the next match on August 6 at 1.30 pm while NC Club will play THAU latter at 3 pm.
