Officials confer on JE

IMPHAL, Aug 5: With State Health Mission Director Dr S Manikanta in the chair, officials of Public Health, Vector Borne diseases and Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) held a meeting at the Director’s office this afternoon and discussed the outbreak of Japanese Encephalitis (JE) in the State. So far, JE has claimed four lives in the State while 101 people have been infected.
Taking serious note of the growing positive cases of     JE, the meeting decided to send in Health Department’s rapid response teams as and when there is a report of suspected JE case in any area, informed a source.
The meeting further decided to ask all CMOs to take up all possible control and precautionary measures and also to ban employees from taking leave. It also decided to hold a joint meeting of CMOs and  Malaria officers.
