IMPHAL, Aug 9: IGP Clay Khongsai has conveyed that  the post mortem (PM) examination report of Ningthoujam Babysana opines that the minor died as a result of asphyxia due to hanging.
Briefing media persons at the conference hall of Imphal West district police headquarters today, the IGP narrated that the PM examination of the deceased was conducted twice along with full video coverage and in the presence of two family members/relatives.
Informing that both of the PM examination results point toward asphyxia due to hanging as the cause of death, Clay Khongsai clarified that such reports cannot be made up by police and are reports submitted by professional doctors.
However, investigation is still underway and the police are covering all aspects and possible angles of the incident, he added.
He continued that Section 302 IPC (Murder) was also added to the investigation after a complaint was filed by the family members of the deceased and now, IPC Section 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) has been added after it came to light that the school authority might be involved in a fraud.
Expressing desire to examine Babysana's parents to collect more details and information, the IGP appealed to the people to have faith in the investigation conducted by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed in connection with the death of Babysana.
