Rhythms of Manipur encourages students with music

The  Rhythms of Manipur, one of the leading music company of the region as part of its music education programme in schools, organized a lecture cum demonstration programme on Manipuri music yesterday at the premises of Laishram Mani Memorial English Academy, Kongba Dhobi Lampak.
During the programme, artistes of the Rhythms of Manipur presented one folk  music number and  one music composition based on Manipuri drum Langden before the students and teachers of the school.
The music performance was followed by lecture and teaching of drumming and playing of instruments including Pena to the students and teachers.
The teaching staff and students of the school appreciated the programme and wished for more such programme in the coming days, said RK Sanatomba Singh, secretary, Rhythms of Manipur.
It may be noted here that the Rhythms of Manipur supported by the Ministry of Culture and State Art and Culture Department since 1994 has successfully performed music concerts in various parts of India and abroad besides its music education programme in schools.
