IMPHAL, Sep 12: Central Agricultural University, Imphal and ICAR Indian Institute of Pulses Research, Kanpur kicked off 2-day "Annual Group Meet on Rabi Pulses" Thursday.
The annual group meet started at the auditorium of College of Agriculture, CAU Imphal was attended by its Director of Extension Education Dr Ratan Kumar Saha, ADG (Oilseed & Pulses), ICAR New Delhi Dr SK Jha, Director ICAR-IIPR, Kanpur Dr NP Singh, Project Coordinator, AICRP-MULLaRP, ICAR-IIPR Kanpur Dr Sanjeev Gupta and Dean College of Agriculture, CAU Imphal Dr Indira Sarangthem as presidium members.
Speaking as chief guest at the gathering of about 75 scientists and experts, Director of Extension Education, CAU Imphal Dr Ratan Kumar Saha said that the group meet will discuss and bring about plans to increase production of Rabi pulses under All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on MULLaRP (Mungbean, Urdbean, Lentil, Lathyrus, Rajmash and Pea).
Identification and selection of suitable soils/sites for MULLaRP pulses will be carried out and productive seeds will be released to cut import of these pulses somewhat, he said expressing that the group meet will benefit the farmers of the State.
