IMPHAL, Sep 13: Outer Manipur MP Dr Lorho S Pfoze has stressed on the importance of strengthening the regional parties to express regional aspiration of the people before the Government.
The MP said this during a reception of former Tamenglong MLA Khangthonang Panmei, who joined Naga People's Front (NPF) today, in a simple function held at NPF office, Langol Tarung village.
The reception function of the former Independent MLA of Tamenglong AC in the 9th Manipur Legislative Assembly, Khangthonang Panmei was attended by Outer Manipur MP Dr Lorho S Pfoze, Tamei MLA Awangbow Newmai (president NPF Manipur State Unit), W Morung Makunga working president NPF Central Kohima, MLAs of NPF Manipur and other officer bearers.
Speaking at the function, Dr Lorho S Pfoze said that with Khangthonang Panmei joining the NPF, the party will be strengthened in many aspects and explained that earlier, different communities of the State had different thoughts and views among one another. But now, people have realized the importance of unity for bringing major changes in the State, he added.
Earlier many people thought that NPF is a party which want to break the State but now many have realized that NPF is a party which is working to bring peace, harmony and development in the State, he said.
He said that NPF is a very relevant party for the State and added that to express regional aspirations, a powerful regional party is needed.
As the elected representative from a regional party he mentioned that he can express about the regional aspirations loud and clear in the Lok Sabha so that leaders of the House can hear the sentiments of the people.
He also said that earlier, NPF was thought to be a Naga centric party and a party only for the Nagas but now the people have realized that this is not so as after the forming of the coalition Government with NPF in the State, peace, harmony and development have been brought in the State in such a short period of time.
Lorho S Pfoze then appealed to the people to understand, respect one another and move forward together for the development of the State.
On the other hand, Awangbow Newmai said that the joining of former MLA Khangthonang Panmei, a well know politician from Tamenglong, will give a big boost to the party thus enabling it to take big steps forward.
NPF is a party working for all round development, particularly for the backward classes as well as for the rights of the people. Under the Manipur State Unit, they are also looking for bringing all round development in the State, he claimed.
The main objective of NPF is to bring social harmony, political harmony, love and respect among every community and the party has been working for peace, progress and development.
Earlier, before the formation of the coalition Government, Manipur was riddled with issues, he said, stating that all the issues can be solved by taking the proper approach in the right way at the right time.
Former Tamenglong MLA Khangthonang Panmei said that he joined NPF taking into consideration the ideology of the party and for the welfare and development of the region and the State in particular
It may be mentioned that Khangthonang Panmei resigned from the BJP State executive member on March 1, 2017 during the State Assembly election rally of NPF at Tamenglong and has been supporting NPF from that time onwards, before officially joining the party today.
