RIMS to celebrate 48th foundation day today

IMPHAL, Sep 13 : Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, will be celebrating its 48th foundation day tomorrow.
A statement issued by the Chairman, photography and publicity subcommittee, mentioned that the event will be graced by the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Dr Harsh Vardhan as the chief guest, Chief Minister N Biren Singh as the president, Secretary of Health and Family Welfare, India, Preeti Sudan and former Professor of Medicine RIMS, Dr Y Iboton Singh as guests of honour respectively.
It informed that after a gap of 11 years, Board of Governor meeting will be held at RIMS which will be chaired by the president of the Board, Dr Harsh Vardhan. CM Biren, vice president of the Board and Member, Minister of Health Service, Manipur, will also attend the meeting.
The statement continued that RIMS has significantly contributed in the field of medical sciences by imparting undergraduate, post graduate and other courses as well as catering to the health care needs of the country, particularly the North East region as a tertiary medical institution.
The institute is offering various courses viz 125 MBBS seats, 147 MD/MS seats, 2 MCh seats, 7 M Phil Clinical Psychology seats, BSc Nursing (50 seats), BDS (50 seats), 10 seats for Bachelor of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology course, 2 seats in DM Nephrology ad 8 MSc Nursing sets along with PhD programme.
It mentioned that with assistance from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India, a Digital Medical Lecture Theatre has been created in RIMS under e-classroom project and the institute has been placed at the 28th position in a National ranking of the country's medical institutions under the Ministry of Human Resources.
Explaining other achievements of the institute, it continued that  the Chief Minister inaugurated a new 56 bedded ward of Radiotherapy Department and a Myanmar delegate led by Myanmar Magway region Chief Minister Dr Aung Moe Nyao visited RIMS for understanding the healthcare facilities in the institute on June 10 last year.
The statement informed that RIMS is implementing many schemes like JSSK, JSY, RBSK, CMHT, PM-JAY etc and added that RIMS is one of the empanelled National Health Providers.
ART centre of RIMS is one of the four centres of excellence declared by NACO, it mentioned.
The State Government is also planning to construct a hangar and helipad inside RIMS campus as a part of the flying doctors or air ambulance for the people living in remote areas of the State, it added.
