Tml DC's initiative to ban plastic hailed

IMPHAL, Sep 16 : The Forerunner (TF) has welcomed the notice issued by DC Armstrong Pame, on September 12 to ban any usage of single use plastic in Tamenglong DC Office Complex and Official Bungalow.
A statement issued by the association expressed sincere gratitude to the DC for appealing to all the District Level Officers to follow suit in their respective offices, and assured that it will offer full cooperation in achieving the initiative.
It continued that on August 25, 2017, the association had filed a PIL in the High Court of Manipur to ban the use of plastic bags in Tamenglong district. 
However, after the first hearing, the Court acknowledged the importance of the PIL and requested to file PIL to ban single use plastic in the whole State. Accordingly, a PIL was again filed on September 12 the same year and the High Court passed an order on April 7 last year to ban single use plastic and to set up Solid Waste Management plants all over the State.
It then expressed gratitude to Prime Minister, Narendra Modi for the initiative to impose a Nationwide ban on plastic bags, cups and straws from October 2 and appealed to all the citizens to join hands in eradicating the use of single use plastic.
