25th Sr Women's NFC : Bala scores ten as Manipur demolish Jharkhand 15-2 to cruise into semis

IMPHAL, Sep 20 : Ng Bala continued to maintain her fine form and scored 10 goals alone to help Manipur overwhelm 15-2 against Jharkhand today and booked a semi-final berth in the 25th Senior Women's National Football Championship being held in Arunachal Pradesh. The State team will clash with Tamil Nadu for a place in the final on September 22.
The emphatic victory was imminent in the first half itself as Bala, Prameshori and H Daya ran riot across the defence line of Jharkhand team and slotted home 9 goals before the break. Bala opened up the scoring early in the 8th minute before striking another in the 15th minute while Prameshori banged in the team's third in the 17th minute.
Jharkhand managed to pull back a goal in the 20th minute through Neel Kushum Lakra before Ng Bala carried forward scoring spree adding four goals on the trot (26', 31', 32', 35) to make it 7-1 while Daya managed two goals in the 36th and the 38th minute to help Manipur enter the break with an unassailable 9-1 lead.
The second half of the game saw Bala and Daya combination resume their task and give Jharkhand keeper a nightmarish experience as the duo netted home 6 goals turn by turn. Bala hit her 7th in the 47th minute before hitting three more goals in the 52nd, 77th, 84th minutes while Daya completed her treble in the 48th minute before sending home another in the 73rd minute.
Jharkhand did manage to score another goal in the 82nd with the help of Sangita Kumar before Bala rounded off the scoring the very next minute to help Manipur wrap up the game 15-2. It may be recalled that Manipur blanked Rajasthan 10-0 in the quarter final match played on September 18 to set up the semi-final date with Jharkhand.
