House gutted

IMPHAL, Sep 26: Properties worth several crores have been destroyed when a house was gutted in an inferno at Wangkhei Khulem Leikai, Imphal East district under Porompat police station this morning.
According to information culled from the spot, an inferno ravaged the first floor of a brick house belonging to one Sagolsem Sanjoy (39).
The first floor was built of bricks but its roof was covered with GI sheets. Bamboo, timbers and wooden planks used in constructing the house were piled on the floor. It is suspected that the fire broke out from an electric short circuit.
Even though Manipur Fire Services teams managed to bring the fire under control before it spread to neighbouring structures, the inferno had destroyed most of the articles and goods stored on the first floor.
