IMPHAL, Sep 4 : Manipur U-17 Girls represented by Nilamani English School came out all guns blazing today to romp past Assam 4-0 and book a place in the 60th Subroto Cup final.
State girls which thrashed Kerala team 5-1 yesterday on their way to the semi-finals proved too strong for the Pool G winners Assam as the latter were restricted from scoring even a goal today.
Although the State girls faced a stiff opposition in the earlier proceedings, Hoineihat was able to break the deadlock in the 34th minute of the match before Babina banged another the very next minute to extend the lead. The sudden 2-0 lead left the Assam girls in the lurch and they were victim yet again when Manipur's Kipgen took her turn to score the third goal in the 39th minute.
Manipur, after leading the first half 3-0, grabbed another goal through Kim Langel in the 55th minute before they took their feet off the saddle to concentrate more on defending the huge lead. Assam were unable to make an attack of note throughout the remainder of the game and eventually the State girls wrapped up the game 4-0 and book the final berth.
