Two non-local frauds held in Kangpokpi

KANGPOKPI, Sep 3 : Two men from Bihar duping the people on the pretext of waxing gold ornaments and exchanging with duplicate ones were apprehended by Keithelmanbi Youth Association and Kangpokpi Youth Union yesterday.
The duo are identified as Binod Shah (45), s/o (L) Sital Shah of Phaga village, Baka district Bihar and Raj Kishore Shah, (30) s/o Jayhind Shah from Devandha village, Goda district, Jharkhand. They were apprehended by Keithelmanbi Youth Association at around 9 am while they were moving door-to-door in the village on the pretext of waxing ornaments and polishing gold jewellery.
According to KYA, Binod Shah had earlier duped a woman Lhingnu Chongloi of Sharon Veng, Keithelmanbi along with another friend Saligram Shah (25) of Ekdara village, Katihaar district, Bihar on the pretext of polishing her gold ring worth Rs 14,700/- and exchanged it with a duplicate one. A few days later she found her gold ring degrading and brought it to a gold jeweller at Kalapahar who confirmed that it was a duplicate one.
Since then, the KYA was on the hunt for the duo after Lhingnu put the matter to the KYA.
A few months later, Binod Shah with another friend were found loitering around the village on the same business where the KYA apprehended them and on their initial interrogation Binod confessed to his fraudulent activities.
According to Binod Shah, he came to Manipur for the first time with Saligram in April this year and took a rented house at Lilong. On the first day, they went to Keithelmanbi and duped the woman and then proceeded to Kangpokpi and went back to Imphal.
The next, day they went to Keithelmanbi but they could not find more victims to dupe so they went back to Imphal and applied their fraudulent trade in Lilong areas and the next day went back to Bihar owing to serious family matter of his friend Saligram.
Then, Binod Shah came back to Manipur with another friend Raj Kishore Shah and reached Kangpokpi late in the afternoon of August 31 and sought settle with one innocent Bihari businessman at IT Road Kangpokpi on the pretext of staying for only a few day before finding accommodation. They took rest on Sunday and went to Keithelmanbi again the next day where the KYA apprehended them.
In the court of Kangpokpi Town Committee, the woman the duo had duped at Keithelmanbi was called upon to bring the duplicate gold ring and Binod Shah was asked to repay the full amount of the original gold ring.
The Kangpokpi Town Committee then warned them to leave Manipur and sent them back to Bihar the next day.
