IMPHAL, Sep 7: Strongly condemning reposting of Armstrong Pame as Deputy Commissioner of Tamenglong district, the Makhuam Village Authority and Thoubei organised a mass protest rally and banned NF Railway construction works for three days from September 7. The protesters during the rally today burnt effigy of the DC.
The Makhuam Marangching village had submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister on August 31 demanding revocation of the posting order. The village authority had alleged that Armstrong Pame, when he was serving as DC of the same district in 2017, had allegedly awarded land compensation amount of Rs 36 crore to two persons namely Kh Lovejoy and Thuankulung Gangmei by amending/modifying the compensation award order issued by his predecessor. The village authority further alleged that Armstrong Pame thus denied land compensation to a large number of affected land owners.
More intense agitation will follow of the Government does not revoke Armstrong Pame's posting order, said the village authority.
