CM appeals for assistance

IMPHAL, Sep 8: Chief Minister N Biren Singh has sought the attention of the DoNER Minister to current drought situation faced by Manipur and do the needful at the earliest during the 86th plenary session of the North Eastern Council which began at Guwahati today.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is also participating in the NEC plenary session which brings together the Governors, Chief Ministers and top officials of the North Eastern States.
For Manipur, Governor Dr Najma Heptulla, Chief Minister N Biren Singh, Lok Sabha MP Dr RK Ranjan, Rajya Sabh MP K Bhabananda, Chief Secretary Dr J Suresh Babu, Commissioner and Director of Planning, are participating in the meet.
During the session, Chief Minister N Biren drew the attention of the Union Home Minister to appraoch the DoNER Minister to look into the present condition prevailing in Manipur due to lack of rainfall.
The CM also brought the issue of arms and drugs trafficking from Myanmar side with the State acting as the  route.
He further urged for the projects, which were taken up earlier by NEC but were stopped midway, to be continued in the State.
