IMPHAL, Sep 9 : The 2nd Death anniversary of Pravish Chanam was observed at Uripok Achom Leikai today.
It may be mentioned that Pravish Chanam went missing while attending a concert at Greater Noida, UP on September 8, 2017, and the next day, he was supposedly found dead and cremated by UP police without giving any information to the family members or relatives which led to uproars in the State.
During the event today, leaders of various CSOs and student organisations condemned the failure of the authorities concerned to solve the case till date as and uregd the CBI to deliver swift justice for the deceased and his family members.
As a part of the event, family members, People action Committee against the brutal killing of Pravish Chanam at Greater Noida, CSO leaders, student body leaders paid floral tributes in memory of the deceased.
Speaking at the gathering, DESAM advisor Moirangthem Angamba said that based on the report of ADGP Pramod Asthana, it is quite clear that the case of Pravish Chanam is a conspiracy by a gang of powerful people.
The original report of the ADGP mentions many details regarding the death of Pravish Chanam and consisted of around 7/8 pages. But when it was submitted to the CBI, the report was reduced to only 2/3 pages which has raised suspicion that  the report was manipulated before being handed over to the CBI. It is imperative to submit the original report to the CBI if any positive development is to been seen in the case, he explained.
Asking if any of the MPs of Manipur have done anything tangible in Parliament regarding the case, he questioned if the MPs, who are supposed to be the representatives of the people of Manipur, are being controlled by people from outside the State and are acting only according to their whims.
Till date, none of the people who went along with Pravish Chanam to the place where he went missing, have been questioned, he said, adding that it is worth asking if any people belonging to influential families are involved in the death of Pravish Chanam.
On the other hand, speaking to media persons on the sideline of the anniversary observation, Manipur Human Rights Commission (MHRC) Acting Chairman Khaidem Mani said that it will be best for the PAC to bring together and organise the people who can provide clues, information and details regarding the case when the CBI comes for investigation in the State.
Regarding Babysana's case, Khaidem Mani said that it is imperative for the CSOs, Meira Paibis and the people to work together if justice is to be delivered for Babysana.
If MHRC receives statement on affidavits regarding the case, an inquiry can be conducted at the Commission's Court Room which will be live telecast and a finding can be produced after cross checking the statements of the police and the people.
The inquiry report of the Commission can also be beneficial to the CBI, he explained.
Even though MHRC is a recommending body, its recommendation cannot be avoided by the State Government or any other authorities, he added.
