Orientation cum training prog on disaster management held

IMPHAL, Jan 12 : Department of Relief and Disaster Management, GoM in association with Ema Leisana Women Street Vendors Welfare Union organised a one day orientation cum training programme on disaster management at Nagamapal Khwai Brahmapur community hall today.
 Dattopant Thengadi National Board for Workers Education and Development, Ministry of Labour and Employment chairman (RAC) N Tomba graced the function as the chief guest while Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB) vice chairman Yumnam Nilamani attended as the guest of honour and Relief and Disaster Management Manipur Director KH Leiyaphy Rita as the president.
Speaking at the function, Relief and Disaster Management Manipur Director KH Leiyaphy Rita stated that there is not a single disaster-free State/place and added that Manipur stands at the 5th seismic zone.
Maintaining that a large number of people gather at Ema market on a daily basis, she said that organising such awareness programme is important and necessary.
The women vendors and public should be well informed  on how to react during disasters and steps to be taken when disaster hits, she said and added that it will help them taking the right action and on time.
