Dikho graces Diliruna Asiini 2020 celebration

Kangpokpi, Jan12: Keeping alive the rich aged old culture and traditions of Mao tribe, denizens of Daili Village celebrated "Diliuna Asiini 2020", today.
The programme was graced by PHE Minister Losii Dikho as chief guest; Mao Council president, Peter Khrasi as guest of honour. Local ADC members H Khangba; MO-Tamei, Dr Adani Ariicho; CM-SBI, LDM L Simon Peter and Daili Village chief H Stephen also attended the event.
Celebrated only once every four years to promote Mao traditional practices, traditional competitions like fire making, juvenile throw, shot put, war cry, long jump, tug of war and blowing of buffalo horn were conducted.
Losii Dikho unveiled the celebration monolith while the menfolk took out a procession with traditional war cry at the venue.
The Minister, while appreciating the locals for their initiatives in promoting Mao culture, said that preserving one identity and history is equally important to educating children.
He volunteered to sponsor bright and aspiring students in any competitive exam and coaching.
Peter Khrasi also lauded the courage and heroism of Daili villagers in defending their land and identity.
 Preserving our culture needs collective effort, he said and added that the social issues which are detrimental to progress and peace can be solved only through education.
