Our culture is our identity: Biswajit
Imphal, Jan 14
"Our culture is our identity," said Works Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh today as he unveiled a memorial stone of the 48th Koren (Koireng) Youth Organisation (KYO), Manipur General Conference cum Cultural & Sports Meet, 2020 at Ngairong village in Churachandpur district.
Speaking as the chief guest of the function, Biswajit said that the Centre today recognizes that India cannot be called developed unless all States including Manipur are developed. He added that the Government of Manipur also understands that Manipur cannot be called developed unless the entire State is developed.
He expressed the need to protect, preserve and maintain the culture, tradition and customs of all communities in the State.
Further in his speech, he stressed on the need for industrialization to further develop the State and dwelt on promoting human resources.
He encouraged that youth should understand that they are responsible for bringing development and advised them to actively participate, with determination, in Nation building processes. He continued that anyone can do good for the society without even joining politics.
Reacting to memoranda, which focused on demands for inclusion of the Koireng tribe in the endangered lists, and other local infrastructure development, submitted during the programme, Biswajit assured that he will look into the issues.
The programme was also attended by Kshetrigao MLA Nahakpam Indrajit as guest of honour.
It may be mentioned that the programme which began on January 13 will continue till January 18. DIPR
